ABOUT US

Welcome to the Emerging GIS Leaders site!  I started this project in the fall of 2010 as a way to help individuals starting in the GIS field find a path to success.  My goal is to create and compile resources useful to young GIS professionals, solicit and share advice from establish GIS professionals, and create a platform for members to build synergy with each other.  To find out more about me, check out my blog.

Most of the website content comes from lessons I've learned along my ten year journey starting from an entry level GIS position to becoming a GIS Manager, Instructor, and URISA Vanguard Cabinet Member.   It is a collection of advice I've received from my mentors and peers, resources I've found helpful, and lessons I've learned at GIS conferences and training events.  In the future, it will contain additional content from the URISA Vanguard Cabinet and other interested GIS professionals.

We are still in the process of creating and adding content to the site.  Please contact us at emerginggisleaders@gmail.com if you are interested in partnering with us or contributing content.  For example, you can be featured in the A Day in the Life of... or Rookie Success Stories sections.  You can also suggest tips for the Top Tips for Success section.
